DESCRIPTION:Alexander Ekman’s hit MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM is back at the Royal Swedish Opera \nA universal theme\, the same longing for light summer nights\, a dream of the origin of everything\, a night of love and lust. The boundary between reality and the supernatural is unclear. Traditions are distorted\, the world changes\, and all of a sudden we become uncertain – is it all a dream? \nThe celebrated Swedish choreographer Alexander Ekman created the acclaimed performance Midsummer Night’s Dream for the Royal Swedish Ballet. Like Tyll\, Escapist\, and most recently Cacti (part of Ekman/Hjálmarsdóttir/Naharin)\, it was an immediate success at the Royal Swedish Opera. The music is by New York-based Mikael Karlsson\, who apart from several collaborations with Ekman has written the opera Melancholia\, with world premiere at the Royal Swedish Opera in 2023. \n(from the RSO website)
