“Titta en älg” is a 100 minute theater piece created by Mellika Melouani Melani by combining a number of existing plays by the playwright Kristina Lugn.
It premiered October 17 2024 at the Royal Dramatic Theater (Dramaten) in Stockholm, Sweden.
Liver pate and death. Middle age and the abyss. Kristina Lugn’s Titta en älg is about the women who have managed to control themselves. Who have sought protection in marriage and public health authorities. Who adjusted themselves to self-dissolution and now stand on a platform wondering who they are and where they are going. But we also meet the women who have let themselves loose, who have gone wild, who neigh a little too loudly.
Mellika Melouani Melani’s production is a tribute to the absurdly funny and completely unique playwright Kristina Lugn, where the play Titta en älg is haunted by scenes, characters, poems and quotes from other Lugn works.
Kristina Lugn (1948-2020) is one of Sweden’s most noted writers, critically acclaimed and popular, uncompromising and accessible, hysterically funny and unabashedly sad. With her unique ability to formulate, she has often managed to put a finger on our age, on the absurdity of everyday life – and not least society’s impossible expectations of women: “I have tried to appear nice. And suitably interested in football.”
